Playing the Political Game
I am in an interesting/challenging situation at work at the moment; one that, from an Asperger perspective is, I feel, exacerbating the problem.
Th standard of work being delivered by some staff members is below par or what I would consider to be acceptable. Consequently, I have breached this subject with them and have received negative responses.
Though that is somewhat predictable it appears the standards would be acceptable to the company.
The question I, therefore, have is: do I insist on the standards that I believe to be right or do I tow the company line and accept what apepars to be politically correct?
At the centre of all this from my perspective is: my innate [AS] degree of high honesty and integrity which demands the former.
Any views?

Tricky Situation that I'm in
This is a tricky situation. Sounds like a situation in which might be a no win one. If you continue to fight for better standards from these workers then you will further ostracized and if you just "play the game" you will not feel good about the whole situation.
I hate these no win situations. I'm in a no win situation myself. One of my key jobs is handling graduation evaluations for students who apply for graduation. Departments will occasionally produce substitutions, substituting one requirement for another. There's a very sticky substitution problem going on at the college between the English Department with their Writing and Literature major and the Cooperative Education Department which provides internships for students. The Cooperative Education Department is in bad shape because the college wants to kill that department in a hastely matter but keep the internships. This specific problem is a little complicated, so I'll stick with the situation with the substitutions. A few months ago I received a substitution from the English Department substituting the required internship with another English course. I questioned this with a number of people and basically I was told there was a agreement with the two departments. So I processed it and then processed several others that I received. A few months later someone from the Cooperative Education Department notices one of his students has a substitution of this matter and questions it. I explained to him the agreement. He did not know about any agreement and talks to his chairperson. I then I'm told the chair insists there is no such agreement about this. I was told don't worry about the ones that I processed but if there's any new ones (or ones that have not been processed) I would need to send them directly to the chair. A few weeks after this encounter I get two new ones, so I forward them to the Chair of Cooperative Education department and basically she says no and sends an e-mail to the people in the English Department. After their e-mails (not with me) the Cooperative Education chair agrees to approve only those two and nothing else. So I forwarded a couple of other older ones that I did not yet process and basically the chair states to forward them back to the English Department and tell them to contact her if there's any questions. About a week later those two get sent back to me with a message stating that the Vice President of Academic Affairs approved them and I should process them and if I have any questions I should ask the VP. See, I'm in the middle. If I process the substitutions I get into trouble with the Cooperative Education Department, if I don't process them then I get into trouble with the English Department and I might get a call from the VP.
