Managing Between People
Things are strained at work at the moment. There are changes afoot at work and people are trying to understandably protect their positions.
What is also going on is the company - I think - trying to play different staff off against each other. Or this is what I think is going on and a close colleague concurs with my view.
What I am finding difficult is to read the signs and, also, determine who I can trust. My past experience has taught me that the best thing to do is simply stay out of things as much as possible but, practically speaking, it is not that easy or straightforward.
I also believe that you have to nail your allegiance/trust someone in some shape or form and I have decided that I will do so with the manager that I mention above.
What I am determined to do at all costs is to retain my self-esteem and not allow my self-confidence to be eroded. There will be other opportunities beyond my current employer.
