Impending Challenge: Latest!

I wrote a few weeks ago about what I perceived to be an impending challengs - the arrival of a new CEO

I have seen him a few times and said hello in passing, but last night I met him properly for the first time and had a short conversation.

I am implementing the strategy that I outlined previously. First, I made a mental note of being determined to give him the benefit of the doubt and not to allow hearsay to affect my judgement of him prematurely. I had done this before and it had negative efects.

Secondly - last night - I proactively went up and introduced myself. I had a pleasant conversation with him and things seemed to go well.

I also think that I may have established a point of common interest with him which is something I always try to do to create a personal connection (we have both worked in a similar industry sector).

As we parted I cracked a joke which he seemed to find amusing, so my initial impression is that I have achieved so far what I have set out to achieve.

That doesn't mean that it is all satisfactory of course. I could tell from his demeanour that he is not someone who would take kindly to not getting his way.

I will remain cautious.
