Direct vs. Indirect Communication
I had an issue with a colleague at work today.
He approached me initially via e-mail and included some data/discourse that I thought was inaccurate.
My boss has always said that I rely on e-mail too much. He feels that it is a good medium for initial, introductory discourse but that then face-to-face or verbal communication is more appropriate.
Of course, because of my AS I have tended towards the former. I can write more slowly and it gives me time to find the required words. I can also evaluate and adjust prior to sending.
I have been forcing myself though to pick up the phone more and speak to people direct. I did this today and it paid divdends.
Is this something with which people concur?

E-mail and Verbal Conversation
Come to think of it I also prefer e-mail rather than direct verbal communication. I can think a little bit more on what to say and how to say when I type up an e-mail and I don't have to deal with any conflicts (or uncomfortable) situations that I might have face to face with the person. At times I do have to talk to people face to face on certain issues due to timing and if people don't get back to my e-mails. Plus when you're working in a Registrar's Office in a college you have to talk to students face to face and can't usually e-mail conversations back and forth.
